I can't even try to understand why anyone would leave 23 dogs to die in a cornfield. It happened and now the jury says "Guilty on all counts." Denise Withee testified she had left almost 2 dozen dogs to die in the cornfield. The Iowa woman was convicted on 3 felony counts of abandonment and cruel neglect of animals.
I have so many questions for this person. Why did she have 23 dogs? Why did she dump them to die? Would she do it again if she thought no one would know?
According to state statutes she faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
It's so sad that these dogs died - the guilty verdict is a step in the right direction for animal welfare and protection. Animals are not disposable! Animals are not garbage!
